Greens erode Labor
vote
The Australian Labor Party is becoming very
concerned about the rise in popularity of The
Australian Greens.
In the lead-up to the 2006 Victorian State
election Labor found itself struggling to end
the steady trickle of ALP supporters who were
defecting to the Greens. Many ALP voters are
turning to the Greens because they find that
most Greens policies are substantially
compatible with many traditional ALP values.
If the leak of supporters to the Greens is
not plugged soon, the ALP risks losing the lower
house seats of Melbourne, Brunswick, Richmond
and Northcote.
The following pages explain why Labor wants
people to think the Greens and the Liberal Party
have a secret deal.
